UK wide property strategy
As part of the Design Studio at BBC Property, Paul was key strategist for the restructuring of BBC’s property strategy. The BBC owned 500 buildings, most in poor condition with high maintenance requirements, and many with impending costs for compliance renovations.
The masterplanning process defined what facilities should be constructed where. Paul was involved with planning major new digital broadcast centres in London, Scotland and Northern Ireland.
A series of new state of the art broadcasting centres to future-proof the organisation with digital media.
The strategy involved teasing out the key requirements from the diverse stakeholders who ranged from business, technology, creative and administration, and synthesising that into coherent briefs suitable for interpretation by the construction industry.
Combination of spreadsheet and sketch, to capture numerical data scale and size,. Analyse available sites, analysing existing condition of buildings to determine whether to retain sell or demolish.
New broadcast centres in London and Scotland, rationalisation of portfolio. Creation of future-proofed workplaces. Media Centre subsequently sold following a subsequent to further regionalise the workforce. This is now a highly successful workplace.
