New Design & Build School, Ilford.
Gordon Primary School, formerly Gordon Infant’s School doubled in capacity to become a full through-school from infants to primary.
Key Outcomes:
Integration of a well engineered 1000sqm modular classroom building, blending in with the existing school building
Our Approach
The new 1000sqm two storey teaching block is a modular construction, and was delivered to site and assembled in four days.
The rest of the school was extensively remodelled and extended, during the normal running of the school.
Our Process
Following extensive briefing with the school management and Local Authority client, we obtained planning and building control approvals. Targeting BREEAM Excellent, we liaised with the certifier to achieve the result.
The project was led by the design-build contractor and we provided strategic advice, produced construction drawings, obtained approvals, and managed the procurement of the Offsite modular building. We attended site visits to monitor construction, and produced as-built documentation.
The Results
A rapid increase in capacity, with minimal disruption to the existing operation of the school.
